Ready to voice your objections?
Stop reducing your power with a weak start

👉 👉 👉 How you initiate a disagreement or argument reflects your confidence in your thoughts.

Want to demonstrate your lack of self-confidence and negatively influence how your opinion will be received?

Then start as follows:

❌ I’m not sure I agree with…

❌ I'm sorry to disagree with you…

❌ I don’t necessarily see eye to eye with…

❌ I hope you don’t mind my bringing up this objection…

❌ This may not make sense, but…

❌ This might be out of line, but…

How you begin your requests to consider alternatives influences how well your thoughts and proposals are received.

Anxious to have your ideas respected, and ready for your voice to be heard?

Strengthen your objections with one of these thoughtful openers:

✅ How about trying it this way…

✅ What about considering this alternative…

✅ Can we think about…

✅ Might we take into account...

Feel free to disagree… as long as you do it thoughtfully 🤔

Writing = Baking Cookies...

I was recently asked, “What do you love most about writing?”

Writing shares a common process with one of my favorite hobbies.

Each starts with a collection of separate ingredients.

No single ingredient impresses at the blow-your-mind level.

🍪 butter, sugar, eggs, flour...
✍️ words, punctuation, rules of grammar...

Then you combine the ingredients by following a recipe in a specific order:

🍪 beat butter + sugar, add eggs, mix in dry ingredients…
✍️ headline, intro, hook, subheadings, relevant links, visual content, conclusion, call to action…

You might spice it up by:

🍪 adding chocolate chips to the cookies...
✍️ adding an interesting quote to the written piece...

Magic!

By following a recipe, an assemblage of random ingredients produces a result far tastier than the sum of its parts.

Speaking of cookies... I promised delivery of the occasional scrumptious cookie recipe from my vault.

Behold, Queen Ida's Rum Balls.

Queen Ida was my grandmother, and this was one of her signature recipes.

👉  With the new year approaching, many of us are entertaining thoughts of “Maybe in January I should start a diet and lose a few of those Pandemic Pounds.”

I’m recommending an easier-to-maintain diet for 2022: Cut the redundancy fat from your writing.

Here's to strong objections, signature recipes, and cutting redundancy fat,
